For the last four months we have been running creative online workshops with parents and families, to promote wellbeing and togetherness online, while developing new creative skills. Many parents learnt new skills and activity ideas to do at home in their own time and many children also enjoyed breaking away from academics to do something a little more fun and therapeutic!
One of our recent classes, geared more towards adults, was felt brooch-making! If you missed the session, but still want to join in the creative fun, here are some videos and images to guide you:
Once you have cut out all of your circles, use one circle as the base and one by one, fold the other circles into quarters, stitching the corner of each quarter into the centre point of your base circle. You may want to use a pencil to mark a dot in the centre of your base circle. Please see below video for more guidance.
Once you have finished stitching on the brooch pin, you can do a few tight cross stitches, or cut and knot the thread to secure it and finish off. There you have it – your very own floral brooch! If you want you can make it extra pretty by stitching some beads in the centre of the brooch, or stitching some sequins onto the petals.
